Sequel to ‘They Like Jesus But Not the Church’ On its Way
Due to the recent success of their new book They Like Jesus but Not the Church: Insights from Emerging Generations, Zondervan has chosen to start work on a sequel in the series. They have pegged John Shelby Spong to write a second book in the series called They like Going to Church but Hate Jesus: Ideas from the Liberal Theology
A Rough outline of the book has been released:
Chapter Zero: God is Dead, Well Actually He Never Existed
Chapter One: Jesus Can’t be Dead Because he Never Existed
Chapter Two:You are a Fundy Fool if You Believe Anything in the Bible
Chapter Three: Don’t Even Get Me Started on “Miracles”
Chapter Four: God and the Bible Says You can Sleep with Anyone at Anytime, as long as its “Beautiful”
Chapter Five: Prayer Doesn’t Work but Its a Nice Idea
Chapter Six: Sixty Six Reasons Why You Should Go to Church!
Dan Kimball could not be reached for comment but is not connected to this second book at all. Someone with vintage faith has denied that the reason for Kimball’s distance from the sequel stems from comments that “Sponge is is too old and smells like a nursing home”.
