Church Planting · Pittsburgh · psuedo-poem
Whats it Going to Take?

Whats it going to take to see people being loved?
Whats it going to take to see people finding homes?
Artists finding the Creator?
Junkies finding the Physician?
Whats it going to take to see orphans finding the Father?
Whats it going to take to see neighbors become friends?
Friends becoming family?
Whats it going to take to see,
Blighted brick and glass transformed into mended homes?
Whats it going to take to see,
strangers finding belonging.
These are some of the questions that I ask myself? Of course the answer to these questions must include Jesus, but after that answer more questions arise. How?
What will it take to see not one or two but dozens of Church communities created in the context of Pittsburgh. Communities that have deep roots in their communities.
I want to have a heart like John Knox, “Give me Pittsburgh or I die”. I want to weep over the city like Christ, wept over Jerusalem. I want to care for the city like the father cared for Nineveh.
Your vision for Pittsburgh, Knox’s vision for Scotland is bold. And in truth it has been on my mind recently as I consider where and when the Lord calls me to a city. I wonder if it will be Pittsburgh, if it will be Youngstown or Cleveland, or some random city I have yet to think of or realize. But it is a biblical vision and mission.
Is it your hope to plant another church in Pittsburgh or continue serving and planting with and through City Reformed?
May the Steel City know the Peace of God.
